The score

Three scores. One plain average.

A place’s score is the average of every member’s three scores, rounded to one decimal. That is the whole formula. There is no weighting, no ranking algorithm, and no way for a venue to edit its own number.

You post one review per place. When your opinion changes, you edit it.

Beer

Selection, condition and how it was served.

Selection: Range across styles, rotation, local and rare finds. Is the board thoughtful or just long?
Freshness and condition: Dates on the hazies, clean lines, no diacetyl or oxidation. Cask kept and vented properly.
Serving: Right temperature for the style, right glassware, a proper pour with a real head.
Value: A fair price for what’s in the glass. Not cheap. Fair.

Staff Knowledge

Could they guide you? Did they know the board?

Knows the board: Can describe every tap without checking, and knows what’s fresh and what’s fading.
Can steer you: Asks what you like, offers a taste, lands you on the right beer.
Honest: Tells you when something’s off or not to their taste. Pulls a bad keg.
Cares about the pour: Rinses the glass, pours to the line, doesn’t rush the head.

Vibe

Room, light, sound, crowd. Did you want to stay?

The room: Light, layout, seating, cleanliness. Somewhere you’d settle in.
Sound: Can you talk? Music at a level that suits the room.
Crowd and welcome: The people, the greeting, dogs and kids, how it feels to walk in alone.

Verified visits

Written at the bar, marked at the bar.

Post a review while you’re at the venue and it carries a verified-visit mark. Each place shows how many of its reviews were written on site, so you can tell a night out from a memory.

Location is used only while the app is open, to sort places by distance and to mark those reviews. Nothing runs in the background.

Your Passport.
Places, cities, countries and pours. Each city you drink in gets a stamp, with what you’ve been to and what’s still to visit, highest rated first.

Trusted palates.
Reviewers who scored the same places you did and landed near your numbers. Their reviews carry a match percentage, so you know whose 9 means something to you.

New places sit in their own list until they’ve collected a few scores, so one opinion never reads as a verdict.

Photos are screened first.

Every photo added to a place or a review is checked before anyone else sees it. The pour, the board and the room go up. Screenshots, memes and anything unsafe don’t.

Scores can’t be bought.

Venues can’t edit their numbers, and there is no paid placement. Reviews from members who leave stay on the record, anonymised, so scores don’t drift.
